The OMEGA Seamaster Diver Celebrates 25 Legendary Years

The legendary OMEGA Seamaster Professional Diver was first presented 25 years ago. This timepiece initiated OMEGA’s return to the world of diving watches and also sparked the brand’s long-term partnership with James Bond – two years later it was seen in the famous film ‘Goldeneye’ as an important gadget of 007.

1993 – The first OMEGA Seamaster Diver

Waterproof to 300 metres, an absolute eye-catcher and more precise than ever: when the OMEGA Seamaster Diver was launched in 1993, it was an immediate success. Admired for its design and technical ability, the timepiece was quickly worn by divers, athletes, researchers and of course: the most famous spy.

1994 – 2015 The legend evolves

Over the past 25 years, the OMEGA Seamaster Diver has evolved into a must-have watch that clearly belongs in the collection of every enthusiast.

• 1994 Wins ‘Watch of the Year’ award in German magazine
• 1995 The watch makes history again as a companion to the New Zealand sailing team that wins the America’s Cup.
• In the same year a partnership with James Bond is established.
• 1997 it is worn by other athletes in swimming or tennis
• In 2000, Sir Peter Blake establishes a foundation to explore ecological and marine issues around the world.
• 2006 – Already for the 5th time the OMEGA Seamster Diver 300M is worn in a Bond film.

Baselworld 2018 – OMEGA presents 14 unique models of the Seamaster Diver 300M

At this year’s Baselworld, OMEGA presented 14 revised models with a new facelift, 6 in steel and 8 in a mix of steel and 18k gold.

Mechanical precision

A master chronometer caliber 8800 was used, which immediately brings the new collection into a higher range of precision, performance and magnetic resistance.

New and innovative design

The exterior of the Seamaster Diver has also been rethought and reworked down to the last detail.

Measuring time underwater is crucial for every diver, so the bezel of the new OMEGA Seamaster 300M has been given a fresh design.

The helium escape valve has been given a conical shape and patented with an ingenious new technology. Essentially, the update now means that if the valve is accidentally opened under water, the watch is guaranteed to remain waterproof (up to 5 bar).

Daniel Craig – the face of the new campaign

The latest campaign combines sophistication and fun – it features an elegant but drenched Daniel Craig in a tuxedo and the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M underwater. The picture reflects what the watch is capable of: whether elegant, sporty or diving – everything is possible with an OMEGA.
