A Gentleman’s Journey With Carl F. Bucherer

My Journey With Carl F. Bucherer

Monday morning, I packed my duties and drove with the classy Jaguar F-Type up to Honegg. Of course, some beautiful memories came up on my way… Last time, we spent an unforgettable week-end at the Villa Honegg. The sun was out on this spring day – and since I’m deep in love with my Patravi Traveltec FourX, I was super excited to see the new collection now being presented by Carl F. Bucherer at Baselworld Today, I have the extraordinary honour to present two of my favourite timepieces of Carl F. Bucherer’s new collection.

What Inspires Me So Much About The Brand

Sustainability, is one of the most inspiring characteristics of Carl F. Bucherer. The name has been synonymous with quality, innovation, and passion since 1888. Founded in Lucerne, the Swiss family business has become an internationally renowned global brand characterized by its founder’s pioneering spirit and the cosmopolitan esprit of its home. Today, the company remains in the third generation of the family under Jörg G. Bucherer. All timepieces and movements created by the independent watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer are developed and produced in the brand’s own workshops in Switzerland. With its exclusive watch creations, Carl F. Bucherer epitomizes high-quality craftsmanship, unmistakable style and detailed sophistication.

MANERO POWERRESERVE

Carl F. Bucherer brings color into play. The classic Manero PowerReserve sees the addition of two vivid models in limited editions. The manufacture model with integrated power reserve display features elaborate dials in bright midnight blue and luminous pine green.

The Manero PowerReserve is an authentic manufacture product. Its centerpiece is the CFB A1011 caliber automatic movement. It belongs to the CFB A1000 movement family, entirely designed as well as developed by Carl F. Bucherer, and first presented in 2008. Its special features include the peripheral oscillating weight winding in both directions, allowing the movement a power reserve of at least 55 hours – or more than two full days – when fully wound. The remaining power reserve is shown in a semicircular display at 3 o’clock.

Unique dials

This analog power reserve display is kept in visual balance with the digital weekday display at 9 o’clock and complemented by a big date and small seconds. This design gives the Manero PowerReserve a unique and unmistakable look. It has so far been available in silver and subtle black. Carl F. Bucherer is now launching two special colored dials – one in blue and one in green. Instead of offering a uniform color, the shade varies continuously, from a deep vivid shade on the edge to a brilliant light color in the center. This soft dégradé color on the dials is achieved by a highly intricate process, producing quite literally the color highlights of the watchmaking industry.  Pictures and rights by David Biedert cfb watch cfb watches manero powerreserve

Why I Love The Jaguar F-Type SVR So Much

What’s the best car I drove so far?

Yes, that’s probably the most popular question I’m being asked by my followers. But it’s not so easy to answer. There are plenty of amazing cars and at the end of the day it’s all about your taste and needs.

Let me explain that a bit… Arguments like safety, understatement are important to you? You might want to get a Volvo. You need loads of space for your family, a car to go skiing but still it has to be classy? The Range Rover might be a good advise. Or, you’re into good-looking performance cars? McLaren is producing some really epic supercars.

The perfect mix might be owning a ‘everyday-car’ and a sports car for the week-end.

Jaguar F-Type SVR – is it my favorite sportscar below 200k?

I didn’t drive them all yet – but so far, it’s the Jaguar F-Type SVR. No other car I drove, is such a harmony of excitement, power and class. It’s this very moment before unlocking the Jaguar F-Type, get in and start the engine. The sharp and aggressive look of the Jaguar F-Type SVR, but still this glance of a typical Jag. And once you unlocked it, its sound just leaves you goosebumps. To my taste, the Jaguar F-Type is simply unrivaled. Let’s analyze this, the Porsche 911 4s costs you around 190k, the same price for less power and excitement.

That’s one of many reasons I can’t wait to drive it again – to celebrate that we got up early on a Sunday morning to film the Jaguar F-Type SVR with a drone. Of course, we will keep improving our videos, but I’m super happy with our first result.

Thanks to my friend Kevin Kyburz for getting up early on a Sunday morning to film the Jag!

Review Of The Wilkinson Hydro 5

Why I usually use a wet shave option

Iremember when I was a boy and my father showed me how to shave for the very first time. It’s an emotional memory, I’ll keep forever in my mind. Back then, he explained the whole thing with a wet shave which might be the reason that I always did it like that. On the other hand, a wet shave just feels more complete and refreshing.

The reason I’m testing the Wilkinson Hydro 5

The consumer magazine Saldo recently reviewed 10 different razors, to find out which one is rated best. 15 men were testing on arguments like handling, comfort, result or cleaning. Further, an endurance test was conducted by different men to shatter its boundaries. At the end, the Wilkinson Hydro 5 was rated best. That made my curious how good it really is.

I tested the Wilkinson Hydro 5 for a few weeks

1) The Packing

Okay, it looks cool but it’s a bit complicated to open. However, this type of packing protects the blades and keeps them away from children.

2) Its Design

The Hydro 5 looks very sharp, I like the colours and the aerodynamic look. The material feels very comfortable and gentle.

3) My Shaving Experience

  • The 5 blades are super sharp, but still I didn’t cut myself at any time
  • Shaving feels super comfortable
  • The skin is smooth and without any irritations after the shave
  • Big thumps up for its endurance

The Features Of The Wilkinson Hydro 5

  • There is a flip-trimmer which is an amazing idea! It helps a lot to achieve the perfect lines for my beard. Easy to handle and very precise.
  • The Hydro 5 is easy to rinse
  • Its Gel Reservoir is an interesting innovation that keeps your skin smooth and moisty

What about the price?

EUR 7,45 for the shaver & 1 spare blade

EUR 16,95 for 8 blades (EUR 2,11 per piece)

That is a bit cheaper than its biggest competitor.

My resumé?

+Reasonable price, sexy design, a very comfortable result and a great persistency

-The packing

Would I buy it?

Yes, it’s a great product.
