Atomic Blonde Premiere With Carl F. Bucherer

Atomic Blonde – Introduction

Happy me, I was invited to my first movie premiere – joining the Carl F. Bucherer team to watch ‘Atomic Blonde’ in Berlin. Following all the cool John Wick, Liam Neeson, Jason Statham action movies, David Leitch had the brilliant idea to produce an action movie with a leading actress.

Charlize Theron takes the starring role in Atomic Blonde, which also features such leading names as James McAvoy, John Goodman, Sofia Boutella, and Til Schweiger.

Sounds amazing? An IMBD rating of 7.3 is an impressive number and trust me, the movie is absolutely worth watching but more about the story later.

Atomic Blonde Warm Up

I spent my afternoon relaxing at the Hotel lobby of ‘Das Stue’. The former embassy is an absolute stunner of a Hotel. I asked myself: what would an agent do? Smoking a cigar, reading the news seemed to be the ideal preparation for the action part afterwards.

Manero Flyback – By Carl F. Bucherer

Of course such an event requires a matching watch. The Manero Flyback absolutely belongs to my favourite watches when it comes to combine it with a classy suit.

The Manero Flyback has something distinctly unique to offer for watch lovers: the sophisticated manufactured movement with flyback function. It enables the user to record consecutive times with the shortest possible interval between them.

This timepiece combines beauty, class and precision mechanics.

Atomic Blonde – What Is It About?

Don’t worry, this is not the type of spoiler article – but still we can do a small recap:

Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron), a top-level spy for MI6, is dispatched to Berlin to take down a ruthless espionage ring that has just killed an undercover agent for reasons unknown. She is ordered to cooperate with Berlin station chief David Percival, and the two form an uneasy alliance, unleashing their full arsenal of skills in pursuing a threat that jeopardizes the West’s entire intelligence operation.

The Role Of Carl F. Bucherer

With David Leitch as director and Swiss actor Daniel Bernhardt as the villain, the latest Hollywood action thriller Atomic Blonde boasts two Carl F. Bucherer brand ambassadors in key roles. Watches from the Lucerne-based brand also play an important role – but you’ll have to watch the movie to nd out more details. Carl F. Bucherer also supported its brand ambassadors as the exclusive partner for the movie’s world premiere in Berlin. Among the highlights, a watchmaker’s bench appeared on the red carpet, where a Carl F. Bucherer watchmaker offered insights into this traditional craft.

Atomic Blonde – Closing Word

I really enjoyed watching the movie. There are two aspects I really enjoyed about it:

  • It’s a super powerful movie and it stands for a strong, talented and fascinating woman – encouraging!
  • The soundtrack flows into the whole story and kicks you into the Atomic Blonde world – staggering!
  • You will be able to feel how much struggle Charlize went through, big respect for that

After the movie we enjoyed a nice closing drink – and at the next day an exciting hotrod tour. I had a great time in Berlin which I will never forget!

Lion’s Run – Our First Supercar Rallye With The Nissan GT-R

Lion’s Run – Introduction

First things first: This event has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of race or similar. It’s an event where like-minded people meet to share a passion: supercars.

The Lion’s Run route went from Vienna to Zagreb, Split, Opatija, Trieste and finally Monaco. It’s definitely a journey to meet fantastic people with a lot of entrepreneurship.

6 Reasons To Join The Lion’s Run

Certainly, there are a few reasons why you should put a supercar rallye on your bucket list:

  1. You will meet great people – the perfect place to expand your network.
  2. It’s exciting and a lot of fun.
  3. The tour goes through several cities, you will see and experience a lot.
  4. You can share your supercar passion.
  5. It’s a lifetime memory.
  6. There are fans and car spotters waiting for you everywhere!

Lion’s Run With The Nissan GT-R

Such a rallye requires a matching car. And as a supercar fan, I absolutely wanted to put the Nissan GT-R under the ultimate test. A tour through Europe with supercar enthusiast seemed to be the perfect thing to do.

My First 3 Hours With The Nissan GT-R

Our day started with picking up the Nissan GT-R in Zürich – direction Vienna. Of course, we were super excited to drive it, simply because it was the first time with the GT-R. The car looks immensely cheeky,  powerful, yet fascinating for every supercar lover – a typical Japanese beast that attracts a lot of attention.

But honestly, I spent the first 3 hours in this car looking for a button that makes it exciting. But there is no button, the facelifted 2017 Nissan GT-R sounds like a hairdryer. But let me explain more…

A calm sound doesn’t make it slower, right?

Nope, the new GT-R is staggering fast. The numbers are almost scary:

  • A twin-turbo charged V6 sits underneath this beast
  • The 2017 GT-R is now upgraded to 570hp & 637nm of torque
  • It runs from 0-100 within 2,8(!) seconds

It also feels really fast, and on top of that you don’t get how quick you’re actually going. Driving a speed of 140 km/h feels like you’re going 100 km/h. Watch your speedometer carefully!

What else has been changed?

We talked about this, there is more power. Else, the Nissan GT-R has been made much more comfortable (might be the reason it doesn’t produce sound).

  • Whilst the former GT-R looked like a Playstation inside, the new model is sorted and clean
  • Steering is incredibly direct, ideal for a day on the race track
  • Even though it’s 1750kg heavy, the traction is absolutely perfect
  • The GT-R now contains nice leather seats with stitches
  • A great working satnav (I’m really impressed)

Cool Facts About The Nissan GT-R

  • The Katsura Orange looks fantastic
  • The whole design and look is super cool
  • It works like a Swiss watch movement and doesn’t break down under tough pressure
  • You will have a lot of attention, fans filming and taking pictures

The Disadvantages Of The GT-R

  • There is no exhaust sound
  • The consumption is huge, we were always the first ones on the petrol station

So, what changed my mind?

Yeah, like I said… It din’t excite me the first few hours. But the longer we drove it, the more fun it was. But there might be another explanation for my mind-change:

Nissan GT-R Tuning – By Markus Brömmler

I met the one and only expert when it comes to tune a Nissan GT-R. And he gave me his GT-R for a nice route. Markus changed my mind of the GT-R world from scratch. The experience we had with his GT-R was my craziest in lifetime.

But why that?

Well, his GT-R sounds like an unleashed beast that was buried for a million years. And it’s much more powerful. He can actually boost it up to 950bhp… insane.

AXE Magazine Launch – Berlin

AXE Magazine Launch – Berlin

Lately, I traveled to Berlin to join the launch of the new AXE men’s magazine. Very Berlin-like we celebrated the party at a so called ‘Kiosk’ where you can eat and drink until late in the evening. It’s a pretty cool concept, not the typical bar place – it’s all based on self-service directly at the fridge. The mood was great and as announced some famous people showed up. Albino-model Shaun Ross, the German blogger Willy Iffland and many more creative people.  After a few drinks the DJ turned up the music and the whole place was a big party. I had a great time in Berlin, met a lot of friendly and creative people. Launching a high quality magazine is not an easy job, but I think AXE made a really good job here.

The magazine is all about style, lifestyle, people and of course it’s available at selected cafés, bars and boutiques. You should absolutely try to get an issue! It’s for free of course.

Red Bull Alpenbrevet 2016

Red Bull Alpenbrevet 2016 – Our Experience

Friedrich Nietzsche ones said:

In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play.

red-bull-alpenbrevet

redbull-alpenbrevet

Nietzsche’s quote is not more than the truth. I think it’s one of the most important facts of a man’s life. Never lose your child, never forget your humor and never stop playing tricks. We all grow older and we’re probably also getting a bit more serious. At the end of the day it’s those events we tell our kids about. Those when we were free, without doubt and sorrows. When we were boys.

With Jonny Walker

Red Bull Alpenbrevet is exactly the type of event where your hidden child is allowed to play the whole week-end. It literally belongs to the best days in my life and I am more than glad I could spend them with my beloved brother.

The aim was, to drive 120km over 3 mountain passes with a moped, disguised as crazy as possible. We decided to show up in a top gun dress. That sounds pretty insane, no… it is insane. The whole race started on a sunny Saturday morning in Lugano. The weather was just perfect and people were all in a fantastic mood. Mopeds arrived from everywhere and people started to prepare their Red Bull race. They have investigated weeks and months just to participate this event.

After a furious start of the race we completed the first mountain pass which was also the most difficult one. Half of it was hard pedaling work, pretty tough!

The whole route took us 8 hours to complete. At the end we were pretty exhausted but that was worth it! Thanks to Red Bull and Elena for organising everything – we’ll be back next year for sure!

So… I arrived in the early evening to interview the vice president Nish de Gruiter
Nish De Gruiter

Interview with Nish De Gruiter – the VP of Suitsupply

How many countries are you selling your fashion so far and how is it going?
We have 57 stores and we will be opening another 8 – 10 stores this year.
In the last couple of months we were opening stores all over the continents.
In future we will be represented in cities like LA, Hong Kong, SF, Miami or Sydney.
What are the reasons you came to Switzerland and do you see a growing market here?

Funny you’re asking, I think Switzerland is a place for international people. Everyone is here, it’s one of the countries where the heartbeat of the world is happening.
How do you manage to sell such amazing suits with this brilliant material for these fair conditions?
All of our fabrics are Italian, we’re working with brands like Vitale Barberis, Larusmiani or Luciano Barbera. And we ship straight from Italy to the factory in the far east and then to the store.
Nish De Gruiter

Describe a perfect gentleman

It’s all about proportions, we’re all about fit. It’s all about fit. You can buy a suit for a couple of thousand, but if it doesnt fit, it’s useless.
And it’s not only about fashion. It’s the package. You’re opening the door for the woman, and you always behave correctly.

HYT H1

Myself with the HYT H1 – Quai du Mont-Blanc.

An encounter between Fine Watchmaking and fluid mechanics. One might say an utopia. Shattering all certainties, steamrollering conformity, the idea that led to the H1 was simple and consisted of two flexible reservoirs fixed to each end of a capillary. In one was an aqueous liquid filled with fluorescein, and in the other, a transparent viscous liquid. To keep them separate : the repulsive force of the molecules in each liquid, with a meniscus to mark the boundary between the two.
