How the idea came up

If you look at the muesli and granola packs in the supermarket, you will quickly notice that a lot of refined sugar is used. Due to a lack of healthy granola, Cyrill decided to produce his own granola. As a sporty and nutritionally conscious gourmet, the focus was on high-quality ingredients and very good nutritional values. The first creation was THE ORIGINAL, whereby the recipe was improved since then. Nuts and Friends was founded in 2019 with the logo showing a happy macadamia nut and a pecan nut. In this sense: have fun preparing and enjoy your meal!

Livigno – Italian kingdom of snow and sun

Livigno Sommer 2019

Livigno – The adrenaline madness at 1800 m above sea level of the Italian Alps

Have you ever been to Livigno? Livigno is located on 1816 m.a.s.l. of altitude in the highest plateau of Europe and in the second highest in the world after Mexico City. The small town is located in the Italian province of Sondrio in Lombardy, only 15 minutes by car from the Swiss border, on the Lago di Livigno.

Livigno – personal experience close up

A personal confrontation of fighting anxieties and facing some serious physical challenges was the main motivation of the 5 day Trip to Livigno.

The schedule was all about early mornings, long active hikes and extreme adventures with high level of adrenaline. One would think it does not sound like a relaxing weekend in the mountains – but believe me, these 5 days have left me the most relaxed and recharged like never before.

On the very first day one of the organisers has called Livingno ‘a magical place you won’t want to leave once you have experienced it’, which I did not pay too much attention to until I started to open myself up for the power of this place on 18000 m.a.s.l.

The offer of activities in Summer is probably even beating the winter season because it seems endlessly rich for each kind. From classic mountain biking to spiritual meditation walks, I have tried it all.

Meditative Hiking with Yoga

Another unforgettable experience was the meditation on the hight of  2800 m which started with a special ride with the gondola to the Carosello 3000 before 6am in the morning, followed by silence with a small tour to Monte de Rezze 2958m. Firstly welcomed by the breathtaking  panorama and finally the meditative walk with asana yoga insoles, trying to connect to mother Earth and primarily turn off all distraction which we all are surrounded by in this fast-moving world.

First summit experience with indescribable emotions

The most challanging and probably one of the hardest adventures in my life was to climb a really recommendable and provocatively unreachable summit with a 360° panorama. In fact an amazing panorama over the Veltlin, view of Lago Livigno, the Stilfserjoch National Park, the Ortler-Cevedale & Bernina Group and finally a feeling of fulfilment.
An experience that is worth all the sacrifices that happened along the way (and I’m talking about painful sacrifices).

Sum up of an incredible adventure

Bella Italia in the alpine paradise, breathtaking views, extreme adrenaline kicks crowned by incomparable valtellinese cuisine as a well deserved feast. My personal achievement CIMA CAVALLI 2937m, which has shown that it is worth edging the personal limits in order to feel strong and almighty for a moment.

The peculiarity of the Greek wine culture on Santorini

Santorini – the Greek dream of blue and white – the island, whose white houses shine with the sun and the blue domes with the sea. There are innumerable reasons why the island is so hotly sought after, the unique wine is one of these reasons.

The volcanic soil is responsible for the unique character of the wines. Moreover, the lack of clay in the soil gives the vines a natural immunity against phylloxera. However, the growing conditions in Santorini are extremely difficult due to the lack of rain.

The history of traditional wine culture

Santorini’s vineyards date back 3,500 years. The volcanic eruption in the 17th century caused every trace of human life and vegetation on the island to die out for about three centuries, leaving behind a mixture of volcanic ash, pumice and solidified lava and sand that together form the soil of Santorini, known as “Aspa”. The soil has little or no organic matter, but is rich in essential minerals other than potassium, producing wines with a naturally low pH and high acidity.

Unique technique

In order to protect the plants from strong winds and to limit their water requirements, the Santorini winegrowers adapted and refined a primitive pruning technique, the “ambelia” or “kouloura”. The vines are woven in continuous circles to form a basket that protects them from sand and strong summer sun. A highly complex process, which has been carried out at least four to five times in recent centuries, making part of the original rootstock hundreds of years old.

Gaia vineyard

Gaia wines

The modern winery Gaia is one of the best in Greece and uses the autochthonous grape variety Assyrtiko & Agiorgitiko.

Founded in 1994, the company currently produces around 350,000 bottles a year and has received a total of 150 international awards.

Gaia’s objectives were and are to expand and exploit the quality potential of the autochthonous grape varieties of the Greek wine-growing region and to establish them on the international markets. In all these years Gaia has tested the potential of Agiorgitiko from Nemea and Santorini. The company has thus created a series of wines that have won numerous international awards and won both Greek and international consumers.

Our basic option was to install our wineries in the two most important wine- growing regions of Greece, Santorini and Nemea, and to produce competitive wines of high quality standards.”
